Looking for a change in career?
Our Specialised NZSL Tutors Programme is three terms of intensive training, with the opportunity to be a Seecom NZSL Tutor at the end of it. That's right - a paid job at the completion of your training!
Right now we are inundated with NZSL teaching opportunities, working in both mainstream schools and Kura Kaupapa Māori, and professional development for various organisations. We're at the point where we need more tutors urgently to keep up with the demand. That's where you come in!
Who is it for?
This programme is designed to take you right from beginner to advanced over the three terms, so you prior experience with NZSL is not a requirement. Our students come from all walks of life, including:
- Educators who are looking for a change, perhaps wanting to work part-time at their own pace;
- Parents with a passion for NZSL and who are looking to work hours that suit their family life;
- People who have worked within the deaf community;
- Anyone with a love of NZSL!
We welcome all who wish to apply. Upon completing the programme you progress through to our Seecom Tutor Induction Process, where your opportunity to earn an income with us begins!
Classes are run on a term by term basis, with students starting with the beginner programme and progressing on each term. There are new programmes starting every term so you don't have to wait long to join!
Cost: $500 per term
Where: Anywhere nationwide! All you need is a computer and access to Wi-Fi
Each term includes 10x one hour sessions held via online video, and various course assessments. Sessions are recorded and saved in our members only area on our website, so that you can review these as you wish.
This course also includes Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
